TANYA BELL MCKINZIE
T&C Group Consulting’s founder and CEO, Tanya Bell Mckinzie, has dedicated the last 22 years of her life to public service in the nonprofit sector. Tanya is a former practicing litigator, labor and employment attorney, general counsel and corporate CEO. Tanya is known to those she works with as a master strategist and solution-finder. She has worked with hundreds of companies and organizations to develop strategy and work plans to respond to the needs of Black, Brown and underserved communities.
Tanya has served on numerous taskforces, coalitions, groups and committees tasked with addressing equitable outcomes for disadvantaged populations. She commissioned two State of Our Black Youth Reports about the conditions of Black youth in the state of Indiana. She co-led the Your Life Matters taskforce at the request of Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and produced the Your Life Matters Report that included solutions to advance the quality of life for Black men in Indianapolis. This Report was used by the philanthropic communiity and nonprofits in Indianapolis to respond to the needs of Black men.
Tanya has developed training programs for thousands of educators and administrators to effectively teach and impact students of color. Additionally, she has dveloped training programs and inititiatives for small business owners in the state of Indiana and across the country. She launched IBE's Performing Arts Academy in a new 45,000 square feet building on the east side of Indianapolis designed as an innovative tool to drive educational and career outcomes for middle and high school students. Tanya's leadership and work has been recognized by many nationally, including The Obama Foundation. She received the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2018, the highest honor in the state of Indiana by Governor Eric Holcomb. In July 2022, she became the first person to receive the Public Service Award for Excellence from Governor Holcomb.
Tanya has raised more than $75 million dollars as a nonprofit CEO with 75% of this revenue coming from event sponorships and ticket sales from fundraising events. Such events under Tanya's leadership has resulted in $420 million in economic impact to the city of Indianapolis and more than 5 million visitors to the city over the last 15 years.
Tanya is committed to focusing the next phase of her career on partnering with CEOs of small businesses and nonprofits to develop their skills and businesses as well as working with stakeholders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors to advance outcomes in Black, Brown and underrepresented communities with a particular focus on increasing generational wealth.
